Last night was the opposite of fun. Something I ate decided to take my stomach and twist it in unnatural shapes, which of course lead to there being insufficient room for any food I had consumed. Good times.
I am still slowly returning to the land of the living.
Sanders LOVES trains. We talk about trains (choo choos) all the time.
When I found a train cake online I knew it would be perfect.
Thank you everyone who came to help celebrate our little guys second birthday!
Some party goers.
He had to take EVERY present he opened over to Grandma Candace to show her!
This is the part where Tennyson asks to take pictures. The next fourteen pictures are how Tennyson wanted the day to be remembered.
Umm....smile much? |
This has got to be the most expression ever caught on film from Uncle Alex! |
When it was time to blow the candles out, Sanders freaked. Not sure why, but he REALLY didn't want to be there at that moment.
He got over it once he realized that we were going to let him sit on the table right. next. to. the. cake.
He loved sitting there eating whatever suited him at the moment. There was a TON of good stuff to choose from.
A successful party leaves your house a mess and the cake unrecognizable!
Tennyson helped me pick out all the candies to decorate it with. He reminded me to thank him for this little service a few times that day.
This was probably one of my favorite cakes to make. Lots of little details.
Sanders adored it and insisted on pointing it out to all the guests as they arrived for the party. That right, there is enough payment for any mom's heart.

Such a cute cake!!! And I am glad that you are feeling better. Not that I don't like hearing from Kevin (maybe he should write his own blog - I would love to get his point of view a bit more) - - but not at the expense of not hearing from you!)
Your cake turned out so cute! It makes it a shame we both ended up making train cakes in the same week. I think you should have made mine too!
As always, Em, you amaze me. Hope you get feeling better. Where do you find all your energy? See you tomorrow.!
That cake was really so incredibly darling. It looked very professional made. Your talents are becoming endless.
Very cute cake!
So glad you are feeling better. Being sick is the pits. How very kind of Kevin to guest post for you.
I wanted to say something witty about how he should have applied his thoughts on the economy to what was going on with what you would have posted about that day, but everything I tried to write just ended up sounding rude.
Have a great evening!!
Happy birthday Sanders... so sorry we missed it. The cake is AMAZING and so life like... kinda made me want to start playing with it!
Um, that cake? Ridiculously creative. Way more elaborate than what you described. Seriously incredible, I am very impressed. :) And I love how you all demolished it, which proves it tasted as good as it looked.
Awesome cake!! How long did that take? You're amazing!
I was looking at the pictures thinking...I feel bad for Greg & Lyndi missing out on ANOTHER family get-to-gether (that's how I feel obviously) and then THERE THEY WERE!!! How fun!
Happy Birthday Tennyson! I didn't realize he & Aliza were so close..her 2nd birthday was Saturday.
Amazing Train Cake! I have made one before (not as fancy) but still not easy. Wonderful Job! It was so fun to run into your family eating out for dinner on Sander's birthday. Megan and the girls just kept talking about how they couldn't BELIEVE they saw your family there. Sounds like you had a great time celebrating his big day. Way to go MOM! Love Nicki
I can not believe you made that cake! Amazing!
I love handing over the camera to the kids. So fun to see life from their perspective.
