My voice

Good things happened today.

I went to a blogger conference and was inspired and reminded of a few things and am excited for the experience and knowledge it provided me to help me with my design world. I will have to revisit that topic later because I am right in the middle of writing a talk I have been asked to give in Sacrament meeting tomorrow.

I love writing. I do. The right combination of words gives me the same rush as the right color combination. Perhaps they are related, words and colors. Words paint pictures...colors, well, they're used in paintings. Ok, bad example of the "right combination" of words :)

Either way, it makes me feel alive and as if I'm taping into some old soul that isn't quite mine yet. Maybe one day. One day I will find the right words and the right time to explore this part of me.

Like father like son

Kevin's dad plays the saxophone. Kevin plays the saxophone as well.

One was playing tenor and one was playing alto. Don't ask me which is which, I keep forgetting.  

They serenaded us with the "Star Wars theme" (not sure if that's the true name, but you all know what I mean) and "Born Free".

Kevin decided the talent should be kept in the family so the lessons began.

 Beckham caught on right away and is able to read really simple music. Beckham and Kevin even played a simple duet tonight. I'm excited to see where Beckham's musical talents take him. It's so fun to have these Daly men share this common interest. Families are the best!   

Even if they are loud ;-)

Teching parlor tricks

This post is for my dear friend, former roommate, all around fantastic girl. She will TOTALLY know I am talking about her after she sees the following picture as it should remind her of....well, her.

I am passing on the fun parlor trick of playing the piano in unexpected ways that I learned from my friend.

Karaia was both shocked and delighted that I suggest she play a song she had memorized this way. She had no troubles whatsoever. I thought she was just using her memory skills, she hardly made any mistakes and THEN I realized she was READING the music upside down!As if playing backwards with your hands crossed wasn't tricky enough. Amazing little thing.

Lori, thank you for being the inspiration to what will be one of my favorite memories with my daughter!

Extention

My sister, Annie, is an amazing decorator....on a budget no less. Every time I've been to her house (which is not often because she lives out of state) I am always amazed at how fantastic it looks on such a little budget. See, her husband just graduated from Dental school a year ago and they have four little kids 6 years to 5 months.

And while I long for cute things to decorate with, but hesitate at spending money frivolously and there for just do without, she finds a way to make/get the cute things and still SAVE money. It's a talent.

Why bring this up?

Because she got featured on How Does She? for her darling, budget friendly little boys room!!

It's an amazing blog that features crafts, recipes, and other DIY activities.

I am so proud of her and she deserves every last bit of recognition she receives.

I just thought I'd help extend her "15 minutes" by spreading the love.

Way to go, Annie!!!!

Crossroads

Today at 2:00 I have an appointment.

It has everything to do with this.

I serioiusly thought I would never get to this point. I hoped and dreamed I would, but it seemed too big, to far away. At yet, this afternoon, I will be given my shot. This could ACTUALLY happen.

I can't believe I have been given the chance to actualize a dream. A real life, bonified, nothing short of hard work and divine guidance, dream. And let me tell you, I'm finding I dream big.

The best part of this whole situation is I started with nothing but an idea, a hope, a drive. It's something I wanted in my life and it just.very.well.may.happen!

I have felt very pushed in the right direction and I know Heavenly Father has been very active in all of this. Things have literally fallen into place when I thought I had run into a huge wall. And not just fallen into place, but practically handed to me on a silver platter in a murky fog.

I have decided that after the meeting today I will spill the beans. I won't know for sure whether everthing is a go for another whole month, however, I do feel confident that I have given it my all, 55 pieces all, so success or failure I am ready to share it with everyone with my head held high.

I am thrilled at what I have been able to make from nothing.

I can't wait to share!!!

Ps maybe say a little prayer around 2pm this afternoon.........

A few more weeks

Well, I am happy to say I am only a few weeks away from spilling the beans!

EEEEK!

There have been a lot of ups and downs, but I have been so energized about the whole thing recently, that at this moment I am very optimistic about the future.

It has been an amazing experience for me. I can't wait to share it fully!

Big scary adventure

Have you ever been so passionate about an idea that you can't sleep, you constantly obsess over every possible outcome, you want it to come to life so bad but it feels so daunting and unobtainable, but you've got to try?

Well that's where I am.

Right at the beginning of the most exciting, exhilarating, scare-the-spit-out-of-you, adventures. I have seriously been weepy for the past two days either because I'm thinking about how amazing it will be if I can actually make this work or because I'm terrified that even after my best efforts this dream will remain unrealized.

I'm not ready to spill the beans just yet, not here anyway.....I know mean right? But I really wanted to document how I felt in the beginning. Just. In. Case. It's the failing thing that is holding me back. If I put it out there and then this things fizzles before I even get started I fear it will just add salt to the wound. Be patient. I promise as soon as ANYTHING becomes concrete I will divulge the course of my adventure and bring you along with me for all the ups and downs.

Until then just pray for open doors.

Well mine is actually done, but I am just SO proud of myself I had to share. This post is in answer to this post.

I started and FINISHED this project in 24 hours and I made TWO of them!

It's a nursing cover. I, however, prefer to refer to them by the first name I heard for them which is Hooter Hider.

Hilarious.

Anyway, there was a double shower for my sister and my cousin. I went fabric hunting and this particular fabric had, literally, barely been taken off the truck. It was still in the wrapping and just lying unassumingly on the floor. I snatched up my treasured find and raced home. Each Hider cost me less than half of what it cost to buy one, even with the designer fabric.

I have purchased two of these covers and I must say that the ones I made are just as good. I even put the boning in them. That's right. I'm cool. But please no bowing.

Excuse my boasting, but I am just so tickled that I pulled it off (I am a novice in the sewing department) and more importantly that I actually completed a project. I have a bit of a problem with that.

Just ask Danica about my 2 1/2 year old-less than half completed-quiet book. So sad.
