Friends

Although the little boys and I spend a lot of time with each other I mostly find them like this;

Lost in some fantasy world. The most perfect of companions.

This particular world was being conquered by Sanders' toxic throw-up.

Boys are very different from girls.

Tyler Russon came over tonight to help move a lot of the boards from the garage to the backyard. We finally get to construct things tomorrow!

Most of my day was spent with errands. Either on the phone or from one place to the next. Only part of our order, that was supposed to come in last Friday, but ended up being back ordered until this Friday came in. Everything but the Trex post skirts.

After we felt like this meant we needed to wait a whole other week before we could do any work. You can't work backwards and the skirts are one of the first things to go on. But then after some measuring and discussing we decided that skirts on the support posts would actually hang over the cement post foundations and look a little silly. In the end, it turned out to be a very good thing in a huge, giant disguise.

We spent the evening moving boards. THANK YOU, TYLER! Removing the stairs, and cleaning up the joists.

As the sun was setting we were all still outside finishing a bunch of last minute item in preparation. All of the sudden, Sanders stood up from the sand box and said, "Mom. I am tired." He asked to be put to bed.

He's such a sweet kid.

Thankfully, our hard work paid off and we are all ready for tomorrow.

But don't think for a second that deck is all we have planned. Oh no, my friend, we are going to also squeeze in two soccer games, a soccer practice, a baby shower,  and a piano performance. As well as tearing off brick, installing a new ledger board, installing brackets, new joists, scabbing new boards onto existing joists, install support posts, and building a new header.

Lots of great memories to be made tomorrow!

Made Good

Sanders turned 4 on March 2. We had his friend party today.

Yes, a whole month and a half late. However, I am going to focus on the part one which he did, in fact, have a friend party to celebrate turning 4.

It was a balloon party with balloon type games and 9 three, four, and five year olds. I think they had fun.

This cold has really impeded my life the last three days. I'm quite useless by the time Kevin gets home. It's all I could do to be "the mom" when he's not.

My sweet friend, Nicki, brought dinner over last night because we were all as soccer games until about 7pm. She new I wasn't feeling well. I told Kevin she was bringing something over. His immediate reply, "You have really good friends." I completely agree with him.

I'm willing any illness to be gone by tomorrow. Too much to do.

Birthday Friend

Eliza and Karaia had a great time at the Capital today. As I mentioned last night, it is Eliza's 10th birthday today. Her dad is a State Senator and so the girls planned it all out that Eliza would be up there with her dad and Karaia would schedule her day with Grandma for the same time. These two are the only girls in their family and both have 3 brothers. Except Karaia is the oldest in hers and Eliza the youngest. They are only two months apart and met when they were both under a year old. I think Karaia was 9 months. I joked with Karaia that Eliza is the like the sister she doesn't have, but I was met with stone face and a serious voice informing me, "I guess. Except I don't get to see her every day. "

Ah well, a mom can try.

It sounds like they had a wonderful time! They must be in tune psychically because their outfits even matched.

Karaia couldn't wait until the party tonight for Eliza to open her present so she gave it to her on the way up. Karaia says Eliza loved the watch and kept showing everyone all day what she was wearing.

Look at these gorgeous girls!

Karaia was wiped out when she got home which is a sure sign of a day well spent! We love that Eliza girl and are so happy to have Karaia spend her special day with her!

Stick together

My friend, Jaime, invited me and the kids over for dinner tonight. Her husband was at school and mine is, well, away.

It's truly lovely to spend time with someone you like but especially because you know that you are both feeling lonely and would rather not.

She is a great blessing in my life.

On the way home I asked Tennyson why he didn't eat very much, "Because I'm having a REALLY big snack at preschool on Valentine's Day so I'm trying not to eat very much."

Bwahahahaha!

It's true. There is a feast planned. Well a Tea Party. They are all to come in their Sunday best and practice their manners. Including leading girls into a room by the arm and all of that. It's darling and very appropriate for the Holiday of Love.

I tried to explain to him that maybe he should only do that on Tuesday and that a week of "saving room" was probably overkill. I'm not sure he bought it. This may make for very interesting meals for the next week.

You never know

Just when you think you are headed one direction Heavenly Father opens another door and offers you more options.

I'm sorry I'm so vauge on this blog. I have started another, private, blog to record all the moments I feel are best kept closer to home, i.e. only for me and my kids and husband. But I did want "some" kind of documentation here.

It was an amazing day. I feel so blessed. So taken care of.

I'm happy to share the events on a personal level just not on the internet ;)

In news that can be sharred more freely, I went up to Cache Valley to visit Sabina and her new home. Oh my, but I love that girl! Her yard is to die for and her house had amazing potential! It did my soul so much good to get my Sabina fix.

It must happen again sooner rather than later.

Good friends

I helped Sabina, along with many other amazing women, clean her house tonight.

It was sad to see my friend's house without all of her personality in it.

I know they are going where they need to, but as i've said before, change, even the good kind, is hard. I miss my friend.

Change

My friend, Sabina, is moving. Tomorrow. She was the first friend I made in this ward and always made me feel that my opinion was of value. Thats one of her talents.

We would babysit swap every year, and Sanders and Rhyse learned each others names shortly after they learned to say Mama.

I am going to miss her in my everyday life.

Helping out

I got to help my friend clean her kitchen today. She is moving and that is such as stressful thing...especially the cleaning after you've already been packing.

I always enjoy spending time with Nicki. I don't plan on this being the end of a friendship. Just a friendship that takes a bit more coordinating to cultivate.
