Weight lifted by 9 inches

Karaia has been begging for about 6 months to get her hair cut. But the last time we had Daly family pictures she had short hair and I didn't want it to look the same.

Then she started school and I wanted her school pictures to document her long hair.....as well as her 7 year pictures to do the same.

The last straw for her, however, was her best friend's new short hairdo.

On a Saturday night a week or so ago, I whipped out my hair scissors, that I have never sharpened and had for 10 years that work perfectly well on short boy hair, and began the cutting.

Note to self: dull hair scissors do NOT cut straight lines.

Yeah, I know. It seems all logical now that it's in black and white.

Anywho, we got 'er done. Only we ended up being shorter than planned due to the uneven first few cuts. We cut off 9 inches in all.

(look at all that hair we cut off!)

For not knowing anything about cutting girls hair, I think I'll give it a barely passing grade.

The most import thing is that she LOVES it! She is constantly combing her hair and looking in the mirror.

(All cutied up for V-day)

That's all you can ask from a hair cut. That it makes you feel pretty and good about your self.

I'll be sure to invest in some new scissors before next time.

Way cute Karaia! And serious kuddos to you Mom, I can't believe how brave you are! I wouldn't dare to cut my kids hair. I really would like to learn how to do it to save on trips to the hair salon, but anything other than a buzz cut feels very out of my league.

I'm convinced that cute short bobs make little girls look way too old!!

You are so brave! I tried just trimming Jor' bangs and she threw a fit as if I was permenently damaging her. I gave it a valid effort, but they never looked right. Guess you can't say I didn't try!

I love a good change! I learned the hard way too with dull scissors when I chopped Brightynn's hair off last summer. It's funny we made the same assumption that it will be "just fine."

Very cute, I swear you had a post a few weeks back about being unorganized or at least not feeling like you are organized anyway, I saw this today on one of my regularly checked sites and thought of you, hopefully it is encouraging.

so cute, good job, Em. I was watching the old Bewitched and Karaia looks like Tabitha, even with missing teeth. It was fun to watch thinking of Karaia.
