Picture post

Alrighty. I leave for Girls Camp in, I kid you not, 6 hours. I should be sleeping, not blogging. With that in mind here are the pictures from Tennyson's birthday from his family party.

Today he told me, "Mom, my heart feels like it's in the shape of a five. But when I was four it felt like it was in the shape of a four!"

He's a great kid. I sure love him! Enjoy :)

He wanted a surprise present for his birthday. We got him roller blades :)

Karaia learned how to do a back flip! Thanks Uncle Landon!!!

Tennyson turns 5!

Watson, our new laptop---Kevin wanted to call it Lappy, but clearly Watson is a superior name for a laptop *wink*---is fighting with the SD card that holds all the memories of the day. Of course I could walk down stairs and use Lucy ---our desk top computer--- but I had already crawled into bed and I just really want to share my feeling about my Mr. T. The pictures will have to wait.

Tennyson is a problem solver. He doesn't like being told, no or can't, so he often will offer different solutions to the problem. Not in a bratty way, but in a, "Hey what about this?" kind of a way. He is also a dreamer and starts many conversations with, "Mom, wouldn't it be cool if....."

He's been sleeping in lately! Mostly because we are on a summer schedule and have been getting the kids to bed later. Yesterday night, as we were celebrating his last night of ever being 4,OK he was celebrating, I was finding it kind of hard to swallow, he said he didn't want to sleep in anymore because when he does Kevin has already left for work and he misses giving him a hug everyday before he leaves. We tried to reassure him that Dad would come in a hug him on his birthday if he was still asleep, but it must have been worried about it AND excited for his big day because he woke up at 6:00am.

He wanted eggs for breakfast. I told him absolutely! Right after I came back from working out. He wasn't super happy about that answer, but I think he knew it was coming.

We spent the day getting ready for the big family party. We were celebrating Tennyson, Grandpa Jim, and Aliyah's birthdays. We love having so much family around!

Kevin mowed a track in the lawn and I spray painted the yellow divider lines on it. The pictures will really help with the visuals. We had the track run right through the car wash Kevin made with pvc pipe. The weather was pleasant for those of us not getting wet although it was a bit chilly for the ultimate enjoyment of the car wash. Aliyah brought her Dora friends and they cheered everyone on along the track. The kids loved it!

Tennyson was spoiled and he loved everything he got. Thank you everyone!

Tennyson has felt so grown up to me lately. He started riding a two wheeler in May (I KNOW where is the blog post for that one?). He fills me with a lot of joy and I find he is very good company.

He absolutely MUST be just. like. Beckham and likes to differ his opinion or choice until he knows how Beckham feels about it or what Beckham chooses.

His giggle is infectious. I can't get enough of it!

LOVES Sanders!

Tennyson is a great kid. I can't wait to see how he changes the world!

I love my little/big 5 year old. Happy Birthday Mr. T!!!

Sanders' Green Party

Sanders LOVES the color green. He doesn't particularly care what exactly something is, but if it is green it's his new favorite! So when I asked him what kind of birthday party he wanted.....you guessed it. GREEN!

On March 24 we had three cute friends come over plus Sanders specifically invited Tennyson as well. Cute little guy. We decorated green cupcakes and had green plates and cups and utensils.

He does have greener shirts than this, but he was perhaps feeling like he needed to stand out from the decorations that day. Funny guy!

The other passion of Sanders' is trains. We played pin the funnel on the train. Nana was demonstrating the mechanics of the whole thing to the party goers :)

Here is his cute friend Sonja.

His friend and cousin, Evan.

And his little buddy, Beck.

Then we went outside and blew bubbles.

LOVE this picture!

We love our Evan so much! He wanted to watch from a distance and first, but don't you worry, he came down to join the fun later!

Beck would try SO hard to blow, but he just kept giving the bubble wand raspberries. Too cute!

This is the best picture! That's Beck's big brother, Bradley in the background. Ha! I believe he and Tennyson had just started a rousing game of sword play with the bubble sticks :)

They are such good buddies!

It was a great, super simple, party. But that's what I loved about it. The kids had fun and I think that's what matters. Happy Green Party Sanders!

Sounds good

Sanders asked if he could have a snack. I have him permission, but he must have gotten distracted because it was some time before I heard the pantry door open.

Trying to gauge what he was looking for I said, "What are you getting? "

"Something that's not yucky! "

A year ago - Quilt Market

I'd forgotten how AWESOME this moment was! Thank goodness for pictures!

The International Quilt Market is this weekend.

A year ago I was madly preparing my portfolio to show at International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. I had also been privileged to help my friend Shelley set up her booth for her first fabric line debut.

I was terrified. Excited beyond belief. I could NOT believe I had actually made it there. It was going to happen. I was going to Market! I was literally fulfilling a dream.

Quilt Market was incredible. I was offered a contract my first day. Ultimately I turned them down. I was also offered a job as an in house designer. I turned that down as well. I ended up with a scheduled phone interview with another company only to have a fire break out in the New York skyscraper just before the interview time. We were never able to reschedule. I have had the chance to contemplate my decisions and the events that have resulted in today's outcome throughout the year. Although I still do not have my own fabric line, I don't feel discouraged.

I can very clearly see the Lord's hand in all of this. Because I was not otherwise engaged I work for Pick Your Plum. Something I would not have the time for if I was preparing for my own line to launch. Because of Pick Your Plum my little dream of a fabric line has become bigger than I could have thought. It will still take some time, but I have no doubt I am where I belong.

The thing that amazes me, no matter how many times I learn this lesson, is how wise Heavenly Father is. He knew what was ahead and so, even though it was painful at the time, the door for my "opportunities" for my own line kept getting shut just before I put my foot through the door. Just so I wouldn't miss out on what is REALLY in store. Incredible.

I feel rather silly about how much I might have whined about it all. Will I never learn?

And so, on this, the year anniversary of the biggest step of this journey, I do not feel embarrassment that the journey is still continuing. I do not feel discouraged or deflated. I feel blessed. I feel in awe that my Father in Heaven loves me enough to give me what I need. I feel excited! It's so good right now, I can't even imagine what the end will be like!
